Ishmael DenGATE
Ishmael Dengate has explored Taoist meditation and western somatic practices for over 30 years. He opened Integral Somatic Bodywork in 2005.
Ishmael studied Body-Mind Centering with Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen for four years and is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist. His training includes embodied anatomy, developmental movement, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, and integrative acupressure. In addition, he has studied Qigong Tui Na and Taoist Water Method Meditation with Taoist lineage master Bruce Kumar Frantzis. Bringing together Body-Mind Centering, Taoist energy arts, and other somatic methods, Ishmael developed Integral Somatic Bodywork. He maintains a daily meditation and chi gung practice.
Through dialogue and listening through touch, Ishmael uniquely customizes each session to meet the client’s health needs. Sessions are clothes-on, on a massage table, and can involve light energetic touch to deep fascial restructuring. Ishmael has worked extensively with dancers, yoga students, martial artists, and athletes, and also has deep experience supporting clients with complex PTSD.
Clients report benefits that include releasing tension and stress, reducing pain, healing injuries, moving through trauma, reaching a profound relaxation, and expanding movement possibilities. An Integral Somatic Bodywork session helps people tune into their internal presence of peace, vitality, and joy.
